The Portable Network Graphics (PNG) Import Filter lets you place graphics stored in the Portable Network Graphics (.png) file format into Adobe PageMaker 6.5 or later publications. The PNG format was developed by a consortium of technology companies as a patent-free alternative to GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) for portable, well-compressed storage of bitmap images. The PNG format can store up to 16 bits (grayscale) or 48 bits (True Color) per pixel, and up to 16 bits of alpha data. In addition, PNG can store gamma, transparency, and textual information. PNG handles the progressive display of image data, and uses an efficient lossless form of compression that reduces file size without discarding data.

EPS Font Scanner 2.4 improves the way Adobe PageMaker reconciles fonts embedded in EPS files with fonts installed on your computer. Version 1.0 of the plug-in incorrectly alerted users that fonts were missing from certain EPS files and that therefore the publication wouldn't print correctly.EPS Font Scanner 2.4 includes the following changes:- The plug-in attempts to recognize TrueType fonts embedded in EPS files created by Adobe Illustrator 7.0 or later whose names have been altered by removing the space between names. If the plug-in finds the fonts, no error message will be displayed.- When an error message does appear, it lists the fonts that the publication needs but can't find on the computer, and suggests that the fonts are either embedded in the EPS file or missing. The message also offers an option to print the file anyway. If the fonts are embedded in the file, the publication will print correctly.
