To correct this problem, first determine which CMap files are on your system. The versions that may cause conflicts are Adobe-Japan1-PS-H and Adobe-Japan1-PS-V, version 11.001. If you have a version that can cause conflicts, you can download the updated Japanese CMap files version 12.000, and replace the files currently on your system.

Note: The Japanese CMap file version 11.001 shipped with some, but not all, copies of the English version of Photoshop 6.0.

To determine the CMap version on your system:
Open the CMap file in a text editor (e.g., Wordpad) and refer to the version string (%%Version:) located six lines down from the top of the document.

The CMap file "Adobe-Japan1-PS-H" version 11.001 is 21,985 bytes in size.
The CMap file with version 12.000 is 22,063 bytes in size.

The CMap file "Adobe-Japan1-PS-V" version 11.001 is 17,793 bytes in size.
The CMap file with version 12.000 is 17,871 bytes in size.

Japanese CMap files that are installed with Photoshop 6 may conflict with Adobe ImageReady 1.0, Adobe ImageStyler 1.0, or Adobe PageMaker 6.5x. ImageReady 1.0 and ImageStyler 1.0 may crash during the launch process, or PageMaker 6.5x may crash upon quitting the application.
